TUV to present Wind solutions in Hamburg
TÜV Rheinland is presenting its range of products for the wind-energy sector at Hamburg’s WindEnergy trade show from the 27th through the 30th of September 2016. The range includes inspections, type approvals, and component certifications, as well as production monitoring for quality assurance at the manufacturer level. The testing company provides its clients with fast and flexible solutions for certification and inspection processes through its worldwide network of experts, particularly at locations in Japan, India, and China.
The continued operation of older wind power plants has gained a special significance these days. As an accredited testing institute, TÜV Rheinland offers the relevant verifications and assessments necessary for the authorized continuation of such facilities. Inspectors conduct on-site evaluations to determine operating reserves as well as the condition of crucial facility components. These verification procedures are accompanied by an analytical process whereby experts evaluate the lifecycle documentation and compare operational data with the facility’s design specifications.
Another area of activity is the permanent monitoring of wind farms, also known as condition monitoring. For wind power plants without a pre-installed condition monitoring system, TÜV Rheinland now also provides a solution for mobile vibration measurements. Seen for the first time at Hamburg’s WindEnergy trade fair, the testing and certification service provider is introducing the all-new WKA-COMOS CC8 system developed by TÜV Rheinland ISTec. This ad-hoc system allows measurements to be carried out either by an accredited inspection team at TÜV Rheinland or by the facility operators themselves.
TÜV Rheinland boasts extensive experience in the area of condition monitoring. A GL 2013-certified product, WKA-COMOS is already operating successfully at various national and international wind farms. With optimized measurement data analysis and event-triggered reporting, the system enables clients to implement a targeted, condition-oriented maintenance strategy.
TÜV Rheinland is accredited by the German DAkkS authority as a certification provider for type approvals and component certifications of onshore and offshore wind-energy facilities in accordance with national and international standards. The company offers a range of sophisticated services such as location analysis, construction-site appraisals, and structural tests, as well as manufacturer monitoring, quality inspections, and construction monitoring. For wind-farm operators, TÜV Rheinland is able to provide recurring and condition-oriented inspections, staff qualifications, and specialized examinations using state-of-the-art non-destructive testing procedures. In addition, the company offers financial safeguards for investors in the form of specialized site assessments, due-diligence inspections, and yield forecasts.
