Tata Power DDL signs hydro PPA with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited
Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL) signed its first medium-term hydropower PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited (NVVNL) to meet the projected peak demand.
Corresponding to the agreement, NVVNL will supply power to Tata Power-DDL for the next five years during the summer months of May 2023 to September 2023 beginning from May 1,2023. The collaboration will help Tata Power-DDL expand its green portfolio.
The distribution company (discom) envisioned various policy decisions emphasising increasing reliance on non-fossil resources and reaffirming its commitment to making a greener planet. Further, considering the prevailing summer period, Tata Power-DDL has made adequate power arrangements to ensure the sufficiency of power supply in its area of operations.
Recently, TPDDL inked a deal with Asian Development Bank (ADB) to raise Rs 1.5 billion through non-convertible debentures to improve Delhi’s power distribution through grid modifications. Aside from the non-convertible debentures, ADB will arrange a $2 million grant to TPDDL to fund the procurement and integration of a pilot battery energy storage system with the TPDDL network.
