Indonesia Islet is set to Begin Construction of a Seawater Desalination Plant

Nusa Ceningan, an Indonesia Islet is set to Begin Construction of a Seawater Desalination Plant.

The Public Works Ministry and city tap water company PDAM Klungkung, are expected to cooperate in the building of the plant.

“The plant will turn seawater into drinkable water for Nusa Ceningan,” said the director of PDAM Klungkung, Gede Darsana.

Darsana said that the installation on Nusa Ceningan was expected to solve the clean water problem faced by residents on the islet and the neighboring Lembongan islet.

Both of the islands are regarded as tourist destinations, thus the need for an upgrade in water infrastructure.

The ministry plans to oversee the construction, operation and management costs of the facility over the next five years.
