EVN are confident of bringing 1440 MW into operation during 2013 for the Vietnam grid

Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) has announced plans to place six power generation turbines in operation, with a combined capacity of 1,440 MW, in 2013.

They include two 300-MW turbines at the Nghi Son 1 thermal power plant in Thanh Hoa province, two 110-MW turbines at the Ban Chat hydropower plant in Lai Chau province and two 300-MW turbines at the Quang Ninh 2 thermal power plant in Quang Ninh province.

The utility will begin construction of new power stations in Thai Binh and Binh Thuan provinces and the Duyen Hai coal terminal to provide coal for power plants based in the Mekong River Delta, in the first quarter of 2013.

EVN also announced that later this year it will finalise plans and the site selection process for the construction of two nuclear power stations in central Ninh Thuan province.
