Enercons New Taiwan Office

An initial team of 10 people is due to grow to 30 in the coming years, adding to the 70 technicians already working in the service stations in the Asia-Pacific region, the company said.

Since 2001, Enercon has installed more than 217 turbines totalling over 440MW in Taiwan, and has a market share of nearly 70%, it added.

Enercon will manage all its Asian activities from the Taipei branch to “ensure a higher level of service availability for its customers”.

Coordination between departments in different time zones will no longer be an issue, and the central geographical location of Taiwan means the various countries in the region can be reached quickly, the company added.

Taiwan is an important export market, with a potential of at least 5GW in the onshore wind energy sector, according to Enercon.

It intends to promote the idea of wind energy projects with community participation in Taiwan, “as this is something still largely unheard of there”.

Japan remains Enercon’s key market in the Asian-Pacific region, with 308 turbines and a total capacity of roughly 520MW. Overall, Enercon has installed 533 turbines with 2,683MW in Asia, it said.
