China’s Kstar to manufacture 1 GW of solar inverters in Vietnam
Chinese power conversion expert Shenzhen Kstar Science And Technology Co Ltd (SHE:002518) is building a gigawatt-scale solar inverter production facility at a new USD-22-million (EUR 20.8m) manufacturing base in Northern Vietnam.
The base will be constructed in two phases on a 47,715-sq-m (513,600 sq ft) area in the port city of Haiphong. The Kstar Vietnam Project Phase I includes the addition of production capacities for 10,000 units of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), 1,000 units of modular data centres and 1 GW of solar inverters per year.
The first phase of the project is expected to be finalised next month and new equipment could be installed for production to start by the end of 2022. Building works for Phase II are seen to begin in 2024.
Kstar noted that the new manufacturing base should help meet surging demand for the export of its products. The project is estimated to create 200 jobs once completed.
