China wind deal with Mongolia

Two units of Chinese firm Sinohydro Corp Ltd were chosen to develop 300 MW of combined wind and photovoltaic (PV) capacity in Inner Mongolia autonomous region under a deal with a local government.

Sinohydro Renewable Energy Co Ltd and Sinohydro Engineering Bureau No 4 inked an investment and development cooperation agreement with the government of Plain and Bordered White Banner on June 25 to build the power plants there. Also as part of the deal, they will construct a tower factory locally, Sinohydro Renewable said in a statement on Friday.

Earlier in June, Sinohydro’s renewables arm signed a separate wind pact in Hunan province. The govermental deal calls for the construction of as much as 100 MW of the facilities in Chenzhou city’s county of Guiyang.

Sinohydro is part of Chinese engineering and construction firm PowerChina, also known as Power Construction Corp of China
