Aggreko extends generation capacity in Bali to 170 MW
Temporary power provider will meet 23 per cent of Bali’s total electricity demand
19 March 2014 – Bali, Indonesia: Aggreko, the world leader in the provision of temporary power and temperature control services, today announced a 45 MW expansion to its power projects in Bali. The announcement comes on the back of successful re-tendering for the 125 MW of capacity it already delivers to the city, bringing Aggreko’s total power output to 170 MW.
The combined 170 MW of capacity will meet 23 per cent of total electricity demand in Bali, injecting vital power into the local grid and maintaining essential infrastructure and services that drive the tourism industry. The additional capacity comes on line at a critical time as the demand increases and the ability to meet the demand is unfortunately limited by the existing infrastructure.
With a booming economy and demand for energy increasing steadily by approximately 9.75 per cent each year, the 45 MW capacity expansion was commissioned in Pesanggaran (near the Bali city centre) to bolster the existing power infrastructure and ensure the continued strong performance of the region’s tourism industry. The project win sees Aggreko continue its positive relationship with Indonesia Power subsidiary PT Cogindo Daya Bersama, having first worked together to install 125 MW of capacity in Pemaron (in the northern area of Bali) in 2010.

Aggreko provides power and temperature control solutions to customers who need them either very quickly, or for a short or indeterminate length of time. Examples would be the supply of power to an industrial site which needs to service its permanent power supply, supplying a whole city in times of power shortage, or providing a major sporting event with power and cooling systems. We serve our customers either through our 202 service centres, which we call the Local business, or globally through our Power Projects business.
In the Local business, which accounts for about half of our revenues, we hire our equipment to customers, who then operate it for themselves, although we retain responsibility for servicing and maintaining it. In the Power Projects business, which also accounts for about half of our revenues, we operate as a power producer. We install and operate power plants and we charge our customers both for providing the generating capacity, and for the electricity we produce. We design and manufacture equipment specifically for these requirements in our factory in Dumbarton, Scotland.
