Goldwind supply Wyoming Project

China-based renewables major Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology (HKG:2208) said Wednesday it will supply a projected 1,870 MW of its turbines for project developer Viridis Eolia LLC’s masterplan in the US state of Wyoming.

The company’s wholly-owned unit Goldwind USA Inc has entered into an exclusive letter of intent (LoI) with the buyer. As part of the deal, it is expected to deliver 2.5-MW and 3-MW permanent magnetic direct drive wind turbine generators (WTGs) between 2017 and 2022. It will also provide long-term operations and maintenance (O&M) services for the wind complex.

The estimated value of the order remained undisclosed.

The purchaser has been advancing the phased wind energy project, called the Viridis Eolia Master Plan, since 2010. Located in Shirley Basin, it will deliver competitive wind power to the Western Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) markets, including California. Little Medicine Bow Wind S LLC will develop the initial project of 32.5 MW, with plans to have it up and running next year. Subsequent phases will be commencing operations in the period 2018-2022.

Medicine Bow-based Viridis Eolia owns and operates renewable energy facilities in North, Central and South America, as well as the Caribbean. Goldwind stressed that the LoI is not legally binding.
