TNB-Trilliant MoU on smart grid

Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with US-based Trilliant on a smart grid technical exchange collaboration.

Trilliant is a leading smart grid platform company and the MoU follows the recent US-Asia Pacific Comprehensive Energy Partnership’s High-Levels meeting.

TNB president and chief executive officer Azman bin Mohd said he was delighted to have the technical exchange collaboration with Trilliant.

“We look to build a smart energy infrastructure to deliver benefits to our customers and help Malaysia continue on its economic growth part,” he added in a statement today.

The MoU provides a framework for collaboration between the two companies on the exchange of technical information and training, as well as explore models to deliver smart grid benefits such as enhanced energy efficiency, improved reliability, and energy security throughout TNB’s customer base.

Meanwhile, Trilliant Asia Pacific managing director Bryan Spear said the company was happy to work with TNB in leveraging on its proven technology and experience to help deliver benefits of a smarter grid to the latter.

“We look forward to a long-term technical exchange collaboration that will contribute to developing a sustainable high-tech industry in Malaysia,” he added.

As the third largest economy in South-East Asia, it is vital for Malaysia to ensure affordable, secure and cleaner energy supplies to meet and sustain economic growth.
