Rathin Basu appointed Country President of Alstom India & South Asia

France-based Alstom on Monday said Rathin Basu would be Country President of Alstom India & South Asia from April 1. At present, Basu is the Managing Director for Alstom T&D India, the Group’s arm that deals with transmission and distribution business.

He will succeed Sunand Sharma, who will continue to support Alstom’s businesses as advisor with focus on the neighbouring countries of India and as a Board Member of several legal entities, Alstom said in a statement.

Basu would continue to head Alstom T&D India Ltd as the Managing Director, in addition to his new role.

“Rathin Basu with his strong knowledge of the business and his understanding of the Indian market is the right person for this role. With this nomination, Alstom is confident of charting even greater success in continuation of the strong legacy that it enjoys in India”, said Philippe Delleur, Senior Vice President-International Network of Alstom.
