PT PLN plans to establish Hydro Power Plant Peusangan

State-owned utility PT PLN plans to establish Hydro Power Plant Peusangan (PLTA), unit 1 and 2, in Aceh this month.

The two units, with capacity 2×22.1 MW and 2×21.1MW each, are expected to commence operation by 2016. PLN may generate 323 GWh of power per annum.

The electricity produced will be distributed to High Voltage Electricity Tower (SUTT) 150kV North Sumatera and Aceh through Takengon and Bireun Substations. PLN has partnered with consortium PT Balfour Beatty Sakti Indonesia – PT Karunia Berca Indonesia to develop the electricity grid.

PLN has partnered with Wika – Amarta consortium to develop the power plant.
