Aqualyng Caofeidian Seawater Desalination Project, Possesses the required technology for large-scale seawater desalination

Beijing Enterprises Water Group Limited has stated their ongoing Aqualyng Caofeidian Seawater Desalination Project, Possesses the required technology for large-scale seawater desalination and can desalt one million tons of seawater every day to supply Beijing’s water resources.

The Aqualyng Caofeidian Seawater Desalination Project has been approved by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) in 2011 as a key demonstration project in seawater desalination industrial development.

By three years time, the Aqualyng Caofeidian Water Desalination Project, which was co-established by Beijing Enterprises Water Group Limited and Aqualyng China Limited, will be capable of desalting one million tons of seawater from the Bohai Sea every day. The desalted water will then be delivered through 270 km of pipelining from Tangshan City in Hebei Province to Beijing.

Caofeidian has a wide aquatic area and pumps the sea water up from 15 meters below the surface. The purified water will meet the 106 national standards. In addition, the water quality and security is even better than those of tap water.

It will deliver one million tons in desalted water every day, which accounts for one third of Beijing’s daily water consumption. It equals to increase 5 million peoples’ daily water consumption. It serves as an alternative or complementary water resource and will not have an impact on water prices.
