Vietnam’s leading renewable energy company relies on Voith’s Digital HyService

  • Monthly remote consulting for Vietnamese power plants with digital state-of-the-art technology by Voith
  • High customer satisfaction in projects Ca Nan 1 and 2 results in ongoing service cooperation
  • New service model serves as reference for many Southeast Asian countries

HANOI, VIETNAM: Voith Hydro signed a contract with SCI Nghe An Joint Stock Company (SCI) of Vietnam to provide annual digital-based maintenance services at Ca Nan 1 and Ca Nan 2 hydropower plants.

In 2016 and 2017, Voith Hydro supplied advanced electro-mechanical equipment for Ca Nan 1 and Ca Nan 2 hydropower plants, respectively. Since then, SCI and Voith Hydro have been in a growing and mutually beneficial partnership, resulting in SCI selecting Voith Hydro again for the provision of annual maintenance services for the two hydropower plants.

In addition to a traditional maintenance service package, this contract incorporates several digital elements. Under the contract, Voith Hydro’s experts will provide monthly remote consulting and diagnosis via a VPN connection, video collaboration and support hotline. Furthermore, experts from Voith Hydro will carry out comprehensive remote inspections and health assessments on the key components of the power plants, like turbine, generator, automation, governor and balance of plant. This digital-based service contract will enhance the performance, reliability and overall life of the plant equipment.

SCI and Voith Hydro have a long history of successful cooperation. In addition to the Ca Nan 1 and Ca Nan 2 hydropower projects, Voith Hydro will also supply the electro-mechanical system equipment and technical services to SCI’s newly developed Nam Lum 2 (18MW), Nam Lum-1 (9.2MW) and Nam Xe (24MW) hydropower plants.

“I am pleased to see our great cooperation with SCI on several projects,” said Stephen Lewis, President & CEO of Voith Hydro APAC region. “With this digital service contract, Voith can leverage its global and regional experts to provide professional consulting and services to the customer. I believe this project will bring a new service model to Vietnam and serve as a reference for other countries in the SEA hydropower industry, especially during the current COVID-19 situation.”
