Reliance Infrastructure hot on waste heat recovery for their new cement arm

This is the second cement plant that the company commissiond after launching commercial operations in Amravati, in April this year. The plant has 0.5 million tonne capacity, and has been selling  the Maharashtra market.

“We are delighted to add the cement business to our portfolio of high growth infrastructure businesses, serving the long term needs of our country. Reliance Cement will add the manufacturing mix to our existing range of annuity infrastructure businesses across power, roads and metro rail systems,” said Anil D Ambani, chairman of Reliance Infrastructure.

“The company now plans to expand its presence in the central, eastern and northern markets of India from the new manufacturing unit in Madhya Pradesh,” Reliance Power said, in a press release.

The infrastructure company’s cement business is an extension of the group’s power generation. It uses fly ash, a by-product of Reliance Power’s plants, to produce cement. RPower’s Sasan ultra mega power project also recently commissioned its first unit in Madhya Pradesh.

“The project is conceptualised with waste heat recovery system right from the beginning, generating over 10 megawatt of power from the heat that would otherwise be lost as waste,” the company said, in  a press release.
