PLN signs memorandum of understanding for Medan Industrial Zone

State utility PT PLN seals memorandum of understanding (MoU) with three companies in South Sulawesi, North Sumatera, and Bangka Belitung for supply of electricity.

The three companies are PT Kawasan Industri Medan (Persero), PT Timah (Persero), and PT Earthstone Metals & Mining.

PLN agrees to supply 200MW electricity to Medan Industrial Zone operated by PT Kawasan Industri Medan (KIM). President Director of KIM, Gandhi Tambunan, said the electricity supply in Medan Industrial Zone only reaches 90MW at maximum.

PLN also sealed electricity purchase agreement with PT Timah where the state utility will supply 25MW for Timah’s business development in Bangka. PLN also said a coal-fired plant 2x30MW will be established by private company in the area which will support PT Timah & public electricity needs.

Meanwhile, PLN also will supply 70MW electricity to PT Earthstone Metals and Mining for its manganese ore refinery in Bantaeng.
