Orga Systems selected for EU funded smart grid project in Thailand

Billing-systems vendor Orga Systems has been asked to contribute its expertise to an EU-funded smart-grid project in Thailand.

The company has been running a series of training sessions about introducing cost-effective and user-friendly smart grids to the Thai market as part of the SmartThai initiative.

Owing to the success of those workshops, Thailand’s Ministry of Energy has asked Orga (Paderborn, Germany) to address business-critical policy issues with the relevant government authorities.

Launched in March 2011 by the World Alliance for Decentralized Energy (WADE), SmartThai is aimed at improving “the sustainable economic and social development of Thailand through the efficient delivery of sustainable, economic and secure electricity using smart/intelligent grid systems based on EU models and technologies”.

It has received a grant from the EU under the Thailand-EU Co-operation Facility (TEC).

Orga’s training sessions have addressed a range of issues related to smart grids, including global standardization efforts, the smart-grid business case and the broader societal value of smart grids.
