LOC wins Vietnamese offshore support deal

LOC Group subsidiary LOC Singapore has won a contract from PowerChina HuaDong Engineering to provide marine warranty survey services for the transportation and installation operations of the first phase of the Binh Dai offshore wind farm in Vietnam.

Under the terms of agreement, LOC will provide services, including suitability surveys of the proposed support fleet.

The team will also provide expertise in a range of other marine vessel inspection and assurance services when necessary.

The first stage of Binh Dai, which is located in south-east Vietnamese province of Ben Tre, will comprise seven Siemens Gamesa turbines.

Including subsequent phases of the project the wind farm will have total capacity of 310MW.

LOC Singapore project director Donny Ng said: “The team at LOC Singapore is delighted to be awarded this contract with PCH.

“We have previously worked with PCH on MWS inspections and continue to benefit from the positive relationship we have with the client.

“Winning this contract again demonstrates the Group’s expanding reputation in the south-east Asia energy market, as well as it’s leading position as a world-class provider of MWS services in the offshore wind farm segment.”

The new deal follows a series of contract wins this year for LOC Renewables in Singapore, supporting the construction of offshore wind farms in Vietnam, including on the first phases of Dong Hai 1 and Hoa Binh 1.
