Charlie Shalvoy new Oorja CEO

Oorja Protonics, Inc., the global leader in liquid fuel cell technology, today announced that Charles Shalvoy has joined as president & CEO, replacing Sanjiv Malhotra who resigned his post to pursue other interests.

Charlie has repeatedly accomplished this for several technology companies, so we welcome his leadership in this growth phase.”

“I am excited about Oorja’s future growth opportunities,” said Shalvoy. “We’re developing a family of high power, high performance, methanol fuel cells with distinct, competitive advantages. Field testing with numerous customers in telecommunications and materials handling applications have been very successful. We’re now focusing on transitioning these products into volume manufacturing and developing new products that use renewable energy in other applications worldwide.”

Before joining Oorja, Shalvoy was the president & CEO of Nitronex, Inc., a leading manufacturer of RF semiconductor devices for the commercial, wireless, and military markets until its acquisition by M/A-COM Technology Solutions. Prior to Nitronex, he was the executive chairman of Canesta, Inc., a manufacturer of low cost, 3D vision systems for video gaming, automotive, security, and industrial markets – until it was acquired by Microsoft. In addition, Shalvoy has served as president & CEO of Conductus, Inc., a publicly traded manufacturer of wireless systems that was acquired by STI, Inc. Prior to Conductus, he held senior management positions with Therma-wave (now part of KLA-Tencor) and Aehr Test Systems (Nasdaq: AEHR).
