APGenco to provide power to all in Andhra Pradesh

APGenco has been producing 150 million units of power as against the installed capacity of 170 million units at present.

The chairman and managing director (CMD) of the organisation, Mr Vijayanand, revealed this during a visit to APGenco unit at Nelaturu, which is going to be dedicated to the nation by the Chief Minister on February 27 in Muttukur mandal of SPSR Nellore district on Thursday.

Speaking to media persons after a review on the arrangements for the ensuing Chief Minister’s visit with the officials, he said that Genco is gearing up to establish a 4,000 MW power project at an estimated cost of Rs 26,000 crore in Srikakulam district.

He said that the Genco and Transco are committed to provide power connection to every house in Andhra Pradesh before the end of 2016.

According to the APGenco CMD, 17,000 tonnes of coal is being used per day for generation in the unit at Nelaturu and they have stock to the extent of five lakh tonnes in the yard and another one lakh tonnes in Krishnapatnam Port.
