Vestas Wind Thai Order

Vestas has sold 60 V136-3MW turbines to an undisclosed customer, marking the company’s first sale of the model in Asia-Pacific.

With the V136 having a hub height of 157 metres, the as-yet-unspecified projects will feature the highest towers in the region.

The order includes a contract for the supply and installation of the turbines, as well as a 15-year management agreement with the buyer.

Delivery of the turbines is expected to start in late 2017, with commissioning expected by mid-2018.

When fully operational, the project or projects will take Vestas’ total installed capacity in Thailand to more than 300MW.

Vestas would not disclose the customer or whether the order was for one or more projects, at the customer’s request, the manufacturer said.

In mid-August, the company reported a decrease in revenues, profits and earnings in its second quarter financial results, on the back of a “better-than-expected” period in 2016.
