Kingdom of Bahrain and Japan’s Sasakura’s Futuristic Plans for Water Desalination Plants

Minister of State for Electricity and Water Affairs, Dr. Abdul-Hussein bin Ali Mirza, received in his office at the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA)’s premises, the Chairman of Sasakura Engineering Co. (Japan-Inc.), Mr. Toshihiko Sasakura, and his accompanying delegation. The Japanese firm specializes in water desalination projects in Japan.

The Minister initiated proceedings by welcoming Mr. Toshihiko and went on to emphasize that the Kingdom of Bahrain always seeks to introduce advanced technology in water desalination especially because the Kingdom of Bahrain is one of the countries which depend on seawater desalination.

Mr. Sasakura briefed the Minister on his company’s activities and operations specially in advanced technology, pointing out that the company closely cooperates with the EWA through the company’s office in Bahrain, citing their cooperation in developing the Ras Abu Jarjoor Plant, aspiring for more cooperation with the EWA.

The Minister also briefed the company’s chairman of board of directors on the EWA’s current as well as futuristic  plans in terms of Water Desalination Plants and providing opportunity to the private sector to contribute in this sector.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Mr. Sasakura praised the understanding and cooperation he received from all EWA officials particularly from the Minister who welcomed his ideas aimed to boost existing cooperation between the EWA and the Japanese firm. The meeting was attended by the EWA’s Executive President Shaikh Nawaf bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
